BOY BLUE is a juggling piece designed to explore the nature of the modern-day boy. The act follows a carefree child as he discovers the mysteries of his body. He experiments with his form without caring about the judgement of others. Without concerning himself with social norms or gender stereotypes, he uncovers his environment through a naïve lens.
The act utilizes the stereotypical colors placed upon gender, blue for boys and pink for girls, to highlight how toxic this cliché has become. Masculine vs. feminine qualities have caused a negative divide with how all children are raised. Why can’t every child explore their interests freely? Why has society separated how boys and girls are raised? BOY BLUE aims to protect the innocence and carelessness of youth, while also refreshing and rejuvenating the audience.
